From the Original Version, Restored and Revised edition of "Think and Grow Rich!", the chaper on PERSISTENCE: The 16 Symptoms of Lack of Persistence: From the list, we were to identify any that we related to, that we felt we needed to improve upon.
The habit of relying on alibis instead of creating definite plans for the solution of plans - Accepting excueses - even GOOD ones.
The wonderful thing about life is that it is a process, it is the constanst striving to be the best we can be. Even though I feel that I have grown tremendously over the years I have studyied this material, it struck me that I have let (good) excuses hold me back. The health and financial challenges that I am overcoming pop into my mind from time to time, usually when I think of advancing and what that would feel like. It is a habit that is attempting to remind me of why I can't make it. But I have the choice not to listen to that voice of habit.
It is interesting that our minds can be so persistent. The real choice that we have in our lives is what are we to do with with our persistent mind? What I choose is to identify a limiting thought when it come up. It usually is just a flash, a quick thought, of something that happened in the past, therefore my thoughts say it will happen again.
The truth is, it will only happen again if I let it. My action step is to have prepared a positive thought or thoughts that replace the old negative thought. Then when the old thought comes up, I stop myself as soon as I am aware, and start saying the new thought, over and over if I have to. I am changing a habit that way from a negative one to a positive one.
In the past month, I decided to play a bigger, better game. In the past, I have played the bigger game, so in one respect, I already on one level think of myself there. The good thing is that I have a new awareness, new thought patterns that now playing the bigger game, I am a better person for what I have been through.
It also makes me realize that I had lowered my standards of what I expected out of life. Bob Proctor said many times, if you want to play a better game of golf, play with those that are better than you. Same with business or relationships. Spend time with those who are doing it better than you.
There are new people who have come into my life as a result of deciding to play a bigger, better game. They are advancing, they are doing things better than me. This is where I have noticed that I have let (good) excuses get in my way. The past doesn't matter, let it go. I am where I am and that is it. Period. The key is to let it go and ALLOW the good to flow to me. To ALLOW myslelf to recieve the help I need.
Thank you mastermind group for helping me become aware of a habit I need to change to become more successful, and to grow as a person.

Rich rewards from Masterminding
The Think and Grow Rich Masterminds are extremely rewarding to facilitate. Here are a few of the rewards to the members:
A valuable and rather large pool of prospects for the coaches on the call was given.
Cross promotion of each others business.
Brainstorming together to grow our business and learning from each other.
Changed thinking - realizing that we really are in control of our thoughts and how to achieve that.
